Prunus Accolade Flowering Cherry
Prunus Accolade Flowering Cherry
Receiving three official “Accolades” from the Royal Horticultural Society, this Japanese Flowering Cherry was introduced by Knap Hill Nursery of Sussex, England in 1952. A cross between P. subhirtella and P. sargentii, this small to medium tree is both fast growing and long lived. Large drooping clusters of semi-double pink blossoms cover the horizontal spreading branches before they leaf out. Little to no messy fruit is produced. Disease resistant green leaves turn shades of orange, yellow, and red in the fall. The reddish-brown bark is dotted with horizontal lenticels and is an attractive feature throughout the year. Use as a specimen or in groups for a spectacular spring show.
